In the U.S. where unlimited drink refills are the norm, waiting oftentimes equates to filling up on soda and if the food is even a little late, one is full on drinks.
In Germany, where unlimited drink refills are unheard off, coming to the restaurant too thirsty and having to wait for your food with little else to do can become expensive.
So what do you do when you have two kids whose blood sugar is going down and the grumpiness going up? We went to one of our favorite eateries, where most of the food is ready to go. Everything but the noodle dish is literally ready to go in seconds and noodles don't take too long either, right? Wrong! We ended up waiting 50 minutes for our food. By that time most of our hunger had been taken care of with the bread, and drinks (remember the expensive part) and when the food finally did arrive, we had most of it to go.
Oh well - lesson learned? No, when we get hungry all bets are off. One of the reasons why I consistently buy way to much at Taco Bell.

Hmm . . . this is a highly entertaining blog. I may have to try to set up an automated feed. I'm enjoying the read. Hope you're having fun!!! -Kim
